| | Description: This course will address the student's ability to articulate the role of occupation in the
promotion of health and well-being to a variety of audiences (i.e. client, caregiver,
clinical team members, and the community). The student will demonstrate knowledge
of the role of the OTA in case management, care coordination, and discharge planning
in a variety of environments. Evidence based intervention models including, but not
limited to, adaptive environments, compensatory strategies, and the fabrication/
application/fitting of orthotic devices will be discussed. Additional topics of discussion
will include structures of reimbursement and documentation, effective documentation
of need/rationale for services, advocacy within the profession, identification of personal
responsibility re: professional development, abilities, and competencies in relation to job
responsibilities. Prerequisites: OTA304 - OT Fundamentals and Practice 1 - Early Development, OTA305 - OT Fundamentals and Practice II - Adult Development, OTA306 - OT Fundamentals in Development and Functional Intervention III
